A plan to revitalise South Bank is underway, with the Queensland Government and South Bank Corporation inviting industry to express interest in being involved in the precinct’s renewal.
The project is expected to see South Bank undergo its biggest transformation since Expo 88, and the intention is that it would renew key areas of the precinct before the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The area set for revitalisation is 4.8 hectares, with key requirements being a new iconic lagoon and preserved open space. It is also intended to include upgraded public spaces and opportunities for integrated commercial development.
A renewal of South Bank will be a positive thing for Brisbane, drawing in more people to the already popular precinct.
