The state-heritage-listed Broadway Hotel in Brisbane’s inner city suburb of Woolloongabba could be fully restored, if a development application for the project, which also includes two residential towers, is approved.
The development, proposed for the vacant Logan Road site, would be a mixed-use precinct comprising 282 apartments, hotel, bar, function facilities and food and drink outlets.
It would involve a full conservation program for the Broadway Hotel, originally built in 1889, including reinstatement of the original windows, tuck-pointed brickwork, interior joinery and staircases in line with Ivan McDonald Architects’ Conservation Management Plan. The hotel will once again operate as a public bar, restaurant and function venue, reconnecting with Logan Road through open verandahs and new courtyard spaces.
