The Queensland Government has announced it will build a $14.5 million velobridge for cyclists at Woolloongabba to add to the city’s commuter bike network.

The proposed bridge, which would separate riders and pedestrians from the road and make travel quicker and safer, would be built over the O’Keefe Street intersection at Woolloongabba near the Buranda train station and link two sections of the existing Veloway.

Construction is expected to start in early 2022, with completion likely in the following year, if the project goes ahead.

Community consultation is currently being carried out, with feedback to be provided by May 28.
